Salud Chindon Porcello!

Resembling the 2016 Cy Young Award winner during his time with the Boston Red Sox, Rick Porcello made his National League debut a sparkling one to remember. Acquired in the off-season through free agency, the right-hander ingratiated himself to Mets faithful by tossing 8 1/3 innings of three-hit work as New York topped Philadelphia, 3-1.

Yes, it's early but the win was timely, pumping the brakes on a two-game losing streak that befell the Mets after dropping a doubleheader to the Nationals. Porcello cruised, picking up six strikeouts along the way while walking one. Justin Wilson notched the final two outs to earn his first save.

Jeff McNeil collected two hits and drove in a pair, Pete Alonso went 2 for 4 and Michael Conforto added a double and a run batted in.
