We Run This City!

FLUSHING - Based on the showing this weekend in the world of reality, we give Mets fans some positive vibes to absorb.

In the second edition of the Subway Series, the Mets swept the two-game set with the visiting Yankees to win the season showcase, three games to one, and we're left to ponder the added bonus...what can't Jacob deGrom do? Read on...

Game 106 - Mets 6, Yankees 2

At 12-3 with a 2.72 ERA, Jacob deGrom is on pace to win a third straight Cy Young. No surprise there, he's the definition of consistency. But, what he is doing with the bat could be making a case for another trophy - MVP.

deGrom spun a three-hitter with eight strikeouts to continue his dominance on the mound but, he also went 3 for 4 with three RBI, including his second homer of the season, raising his batting average (which peaked at .325 during the game) to .317. By far, the most indispensable piece of the Mets. During a decisive four-run second that erased a 1-0 deficit, deGrom delivered the biggest blow with a three-run blast. He added an RBI double in the sixth.

Game 107 - Mets 5, Yankees 4 (12 innings)

Yoenis Cespedes singled to lead off the 12th, moved to third on Amed Rosario's hit-and-run single and dashed home with the winning run on a wild pitch as the Mets completed the two-game sweep.

The Yankees tagged former teammate Dellin Betances for the game-tying run in the eighth.

Michael Conforto staked the Mets to a 2-0 lead in the first with his 21st home run of the season.

Props to the virtual Edwin Diaz (!!!) who tossed two shutout innings of relief with four strikeouts.
