Been Awhile

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Sorry for the absence. Been playing but just haven't had the chance to update the site.

Since last we posted, the Mets have struggled. Yet, the Amazins managed to buck recent trends and actually pull out an extra-inning victory, using a pair of home runs from J.D. Davis, staunch bullpen work and some good fortune in the 11th to squeeze past the Nats, 8-7.

The Mets rallied from a 6-2 deficit, keyed by Davis' second two-run blast of the game in the eighth that tied the game, 6-6. After Washington resumed the lead with a run in the bottom half, Chris Taylor and Brandon Nimmo each stroked a one-out single in the ninth, Jeff McNeil was intentionally walked to load the bases and Robinson Cano knotted the game once more with an RBI single.

In the 11th, Amed Rosario led off with a double, McNeil was intentionally walked again, Davis drew a walk to fill the bags and Rosario dashed home on a wild pitch to put New York in front.

Edwin Diaz closed out the win, following Jeurys Familia, who tossed two scoreles innings.

With the triumph, the Mets sit at 68-64, 11 games back of NL East-leading Braves and six behind the second-place Nats. New York trails the Padres by four games for the second wild-card spot.

We got some work to do.
