Not Much Left to Say...

FLUSHING - Another day, another loss.

It's just a conglomeration of mistakes, miscues and missed opportunities that perpetuate this losing streak, one that reached five after the Mets returned to Citi Field and booted away a 6-3 loss to the Pirates.

What makes the compounding misery all the more tough to take is the numerous ways we keep giving leads and games away. Once again, as has been the case for the past four games, the Mets grabbed a 1-0 lead.

They squandered it away in the third when Pittsburgh cashed in on a costly Jeff McNeil fielding error at third that opened the gates to four unearned runs and a 4-1 deficit New York never made up.

Steven Matz, who had been stellar in his previous two starts, took the loss, surrendering five runs, one earned.

Oh, and more bad news. Seth Lugo, who followed strong relief work by Jeurys Familia, had to exit his outing in the eighth with an injury which has been diagnosed as a strained hamstring that will send him to the IL for four weeks. Move over, Jake, you got company.

How low can we go?
