KKKKKK-atastrophe!

PHOENIX - Tough to win when you don't put the ball in play.

The nightmare tailpsin continued for the Mets, who dropped a 5-2 verdict at the hands of the Arizona Diamondbacks, completing a three-game sweep and extending New York's losing skid to four straight.

The Mets struck out a whopping 39 times during the set against the D-Backs. Not...getting...it...done!

They took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, as they had in each of the first two contests. Jeff McNeil led off with a single and later scored on a Dom Smith sac fly. New York didn't score again until a pinch-hit RBI double by Chris Taylor with two outs in the ninth. The Mets left nine runners on base, including six in the first four innings.

Not much to say anymore. Anybody got a tourniquet? We need something to stop the bleeding.

Marcus Stroman suffered his first loss, falling to 5-1. He yielded all five runs, each on earned. The one bright spot for the Mets was Amed Rosario, who has found his swing. The shortstop lashed single and double as his average rose to .268.

Zac Gallen fanned nine for Arizona en route to the victory and Jake Lamb snapped out a cold spell with a solo home run in the sixth.
