Flyin' Outta the All-Star Break

FLUSHING - Just what the doctor ordered.

Refreshed after the All-Star break, the Mets resembled the squad that opened the season by sweeping the Mariners to create a little second-half mojo.

Game 1 - Mets 7, Mariners 3

Quality start from Stro, who works around eight hits over seven innings, but this was a showcase of Jake Marisnick. I can't express what a defensive asset he's been patroling center field. And, it's not just his range. After throwing out two more runners - one at third and the other at the plate - Marsinick has now compiled a dozen outfield assists. Even better, Marisnick broke out of a slump at the dish, going 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.

Jeff McNeil highlighted a four-run first with his ninth home run of the season.

Game 2 - Mets 4, Mariners 3

Threw on the rally caps to grab this dub. Trailing, 3-1, heading to bottom of seventh, Mets struck three times, including a clutch, pinch-hit, RBI single from Dom Smith. Amed Rosario added a run-scoring single in the uprising and credit to the bullpen, who bailed out Rick Porcello, notably Dellin Betances, who handled the lefty portion of the lineup over an inning and a third.

Game 3 - Mets 6, Mariners 0

Keep saying it...since we floated the idea of trading Steven Matz, the lefty has responded admirably. Matz worked a two-hitter over seven stellar frames, striking out a season-high eight. J.D. Davis two-run single in the seventh was part of a four-run outburst that padded a 2-0 lead.
