deGrom Earns NL Pitcher of the Month

His de-Moninating performance on the mound in April landed Jacob deGrom some early-season accolades.

The right-hander was named the National League Pitcher of the Month...and with good reason. deGrom went 5-1 in April with a 1.25 ERA. In 50 1/3 innings, he has handcuffed opposing lineups, conceding 29 hits, 14 walks while fanning 50. The two-time defending Cy Young Award winner ended the month in style, spinning a three-hit shutout on April 29 to blank the Marlins, 2-0.

In five starts, deGrom has worked no less than six innings. He has won his last three outings and has been essential in the Mets' 22-10 start that has them atop the NL East.
